My very first African Quilt. It has hung in the Mid-Atlantic Quilt Festival and The Newsome House. And being a breast cancer survivor I had to do a special block.

My first NFL quilt for my husband Jerome, he's a big Dallas Cowboy fan. It also hung at a Museum and Mid-Atlantic Quilt Festival.

Another look though a window.

My Fish N Bowl, its just a poster side.

Me with Pat Sloan, she did a trunk show at my Guild.

Tia my one and only beautiful daughter.

Portrait of King on Fabric

The men I admire the most for this project is Martin Luther King, Jr, my friends and family would thought I do President Obama as my first portrait quilt.  But King the picture I have choose to start is 1st post in journey to showcase my work in quilting. I will try to share some of the steps as I learn them and move forward in this journey of blogging. Sorry if somethings are spell wrong as I do speak a little fast. But writing this each day will help me in writing.

This is my workstation, it sit between my den and kitchen area of my home. So I only untidy a small dot of the downstairs. This is where I do everything sew, draw, and bead. Yes, I do jewelry also on this table.  First make Photoshop your best friend to work with photo's.  I'm still learning a lot. I like trying to figure how people do different things and trying to make it work for my work of art. I'm a frugal saver when it comes to money, I do cut coupons to save a dollar. I don't go extreme with that hobby, that I have a warehouse in my home. Photoshop is a great software to really get down and edit your work.

Okay, back to project at hand. After finding the pic I wanted to use, edited using Photoshop. I went in to the differ shades of grey and black.  I'm only using 3 shades to start my first project. Then I blew the pic to side 12 1/2 by 15 1/2. And used the old 123 painted by number, but will be cutting fabric, not painting to bring it to life.

Since I don't have a shadowbox made right now, I turn the pic over on the back and traced it to do the dark shades better. Cause I started on the fabric wrong. First mistake.as I'm learning it.

See, its coming out really good, I'm starting to see king now. today I'll be working on the mouth area and will post the pic for that later.
